Wild camping in a field on a farm. Very quiet just the sounds of nature. Lovely long walks and the locals (sheep and lambs) are in the next field and come to say good morning. 👍 facilities are basic but clean. Toilet and shower block. Owners are lovely x they accept last minute calls to book on we arrived at 7pm and no fuss at all. £23 per night. No EHU.

Lovely spot overlooking the fells! Booked here last minute as a base camp for my “100 peaks in 23 challenge” for York MIND. Will definitely be back again! Easy to locate, full signal/4G, and a nice fresh, clean toilet and shower block topped off with a lovely host! Thanks beautiful lady (forgot your name sorry) see you again soon. Leon H

Relaxed campsite, very friendly and helpful. Great shower block with no need to hunt around for elusive pound coins. Julie is welcoming and superbly accommodating and I’ll return here when passing through the Lake District and Westmorland. It’s a working farm, so expect activity early morning and pitch further away to avoid being woken.

Great campsite on a working farm. We came here after walking in the Lake District. Plenty of space in the field to pitch your tent. Cows in the neighbouring field are friendly and were often stood near the fence next to the camping field. There's a toilet/ shower block which looks very smart and an outdoor sink. The toilets did get quite busy in the morning though. There's also a small wind turbine in the camping field which I believe provides electricity to the site. It is a bit noisy when near it, but we couldn't hear it at the other side of the field. Before we arrived we received an email stating that we didn't need to check in and explaining where toilets etc were and how to get there. The directions were really clear and we also used Google maps that took us directly to the campsite. The owner was really friendly and introduced herself when she came onto the field and we had a nice chat with her. All in all a great campsite in a great location with fantastic views of the Howgills. We also had a lovely sunset whilst staying there. We went into Orton for a few drinks on the evening and for a walk near Orton the following day to Powson Knott Trig and the Jubilee monument. Furthermore there's also a puppet event going on in Orton at the moment which would be good for kids! I'd recommend this campsite.

Terrific hosts on their working farm. Large open field - we arrived on bicycles (this is on cycle route and ideal for cyclists with tents) just after peak season and had field to ourselves. Toilets and hot showers were clean and modern, located inside an older stone building. Pricing very reasonable. Four stars and not five only due to much of the field not being sheltered from weather in event of strong winds, and some may prefer a quieter environment. We actually enjoyed the sound of the working and busy farm activities adjacent to the camping field. Would certainly return.

Friendly and helpful hosts. The facilities are basic, but my needs are basic - warm showers, clean toilets, fresh water and space to wash dishes. The site was directly on the cycle route I was following so zero time lost getting to and from the site. The only negative thing I could say is that the site is very exposed. Wonderful views of the hills across the valley, but I wouldn't want to weather a storm here. Perfect for a passing cyclist - no fuss, no booking required. I would stay here again in the future.
